The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) Program provides free tax help for people who make $51,000 or less. The way that the program works is that IRS-certified volunteers offer free, basic tax preparation with e-filing to those who qualify. “VITA sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and other convenient locations,” according to the IRS website.
